DEMERS BRAUN CRESTLINE ANNOUNCES THE ACQUISITION OF MEDIX SPECIALTY VEHICLES

Transaction further strengthens DBC’s strong leadership position as number 2 ambulance manufacturer in North America, while accelerating rapid international growth

Van Wert, Ohio – April 13, 2021 – Demers Braun Crestline (DBC) a subsidiary of Demers Braun Ambulance manufacturer, today announced that it has recently completed the acquisition of Medix Specialty Vehicles, a full line final stage ambulance manufacturer headquartered in Elkhart, Indiana, for an undisclosed financial consideration. The transaction is not subject to further regulatory approvals.

Through this transformational transaction, DBC further strengthens its global market leadership position in ambulance manufacturing, now employing over 1140 talented individuals working across 12 different production and service center sites across North America.

“With today’s acquisition, we continue to make significant strides towards our vision of being the partner of choice for the Emergency Medical Services providers across the United States and the world, offering the very best in vehicles and customer care across all market segments,” said Kim Braun, President, U.S. Operations. “I wish to extend a very warm welcome to each of the nearly 200 new colleagues joining DBC and look forward to working very closely with Greg Rusk, the entire Medix team, and the Medix dealer network to better support our customers towards the achievement of their objectives – and most importantly, saving lives.”

“I am sincerely delighted with this transformational acquisition. The Medix addition expands and reinforces our brand portfolio while increasing our competitive position and reach among ambulance manufacturers across North America and in the over 40 countries we now serve,” said Alain Brunelle, President and Chief Executive Officer of Demers Braun Crestline. “As a natural next step following the merger between Demers and Braun in early 2018 and the Crestline acquisition in Western Canada later that same year, today’s transaction reaffirms our position as the reference for ambulance innovation in the market. This acquisition could not have happened without the continued support from our financial partners at Clearspring and CDPQ and I wish to thank them for their vision and commitment.”

“On behalf of our employees, clients and partners from around the world, I would like to thank Alain, Kim and the entire DBC leadership team. We take great pride in combining forces and joining an organization with such an extraordinary legacy, reputation and recognition for excellence. This is a winning transaction for our customers and employees alike,” said Greg Rusk, Chief Executive Officer of Medix Specialty Vehicles.

DBC Ambulance Manufacturers Release Free Ambulance Decontamination White Paper

Demers Ambulances, Braun Ambulances, and Crestline Coach release white paper to inform Fire/EMS organizations of best practices and recommendations to better protect patients and personnel from infectious diseases while in ambulances.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE OCTOBER 21, 2020 – VAN WERT, OHIO: Demers-Braun-Crestline (DBC) has released a 16-page white paper titled Ambulance Decontamination: Information, Resources, & Considerations for High-Risk Infection Control in an Ambulance. Fire/EMS professionals have the opportunity to download the free white paper to learn more about best practices, and recommended solutions to integrate into their own strategic plans, as they continue to combat infectious diseases.

While the worldwide emergency response community remains on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, DBC has been busy behind the scenes dedicating engineering resources to focus on ambulance decontamination. Long committed to safety and innovation, DBC evaluated a wide range of products, design options, and protocols to help protect patients and EMS personnel from infectious diseases in an ambulance setting. That collective knowledge was organized into the new white paper, which contains information, resources, and recommendations on ambulance infectious disease control measures. It should serve as an introductory guide for organizations overwhelmed by where to start with ambulance decontamination.

The 16-page white paper answers several important questions, but centers on one primary topic: What feature and design considerations should be reviewed inside an ambulance? Identifying five key areas, each section educates readers on ambulance options and features that assist in limiting the spread of viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi. From plexiglass dividers to HEPA filters, chemical fogging systems to self-disinfecting surfaces, and everything in-between, the white paper outlines a variety of solutions that every emergency response organization should consider for enhancing safety inside their ambulances.

Prior to the public release of the document, Demers-Braun-Crestline provided advance copies to two well-known leaders in EMS, AJ Heightman and Chief Randy Mellow. AJ Heightman, Editor Emeritus at JEMS (Journal of Emergency Medical Services) and Adjunct Instructor of Clinical Research and Leadership at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, said, “Demers-Braun-Crestline has been one of the leaders in our industry for over 100 years, presenting customers with innovations, special design and safety features, and options. This white paper is another example of their thought leadership – focusing on management and the elimination of infectious diseases in ambulances.”

Chief Randy Mellow, President of the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada and Chief of the Peterborough County/City Paramedics, said, “It is a certainty that the Paramedic community requires agility and adaptability to keep pace with the complexity and evolution of care as never seen before. The COVID-19 pandemic has demanded the attention of thoughtful leaders to reflect and refocus, to ensure that as the emergency services industry grows and evolves, so does the emerging knowledge and investment in high-risk infection control. The DBC Ambulance Decontamination white paper provides guiding principles, practical recommendations, and resources to help EMS organizations form strategies that will enhance safety for patients, responders, and our communities.”

The white paper is available in several versions including a U.S. and Canadian foreword, and French translation. Individuals or organizations interested in learning more about ambulance decontamination should visit DBCAmbulances.com or download a free copy now. For more information about the white paper, please contact Vanessa Bomboir, Marketing Manager for Demers-Braun-Crestline at (306) 986-5677 or vbomboir@crestlinecoach.com.

DBC Ambulance Manufacturers Delivers Nineteen New Ambulances to FDNY

Demers Ambulances, Braun Ambulances, and Crestline Coach assisted New York City
Fire Department with quick turnaround on units for urgent COVID-19 response.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JUNE 11, 2020 – VAN WERT, OHIO: Demers-Braun-Crestline (DBC) delivered nineteen new ambulances to New York City Fire Department (FDNY).  New York City was deemed an epicenter in the United States for the COVID-19 pandemic and the emergency vehicles will aid FDNY in ambulance surge capacity for coronavirus response. The ambulances were rented under a fifteen-month lease agreement with DBC’s leasing agency partner.

“We have always fostered an open dialogue with FDNY,” says Chad Brown, Vice President of USA Sales for Demers-Braun-Crestline. “New York City’s first responders have experienced some very challenging periods in recent years. This time, we were honored to assist them by delivering nineteen new ambulances from our Demers, Braun, and Crestline product lineup. It is critical for front-line heroes to have dedicated resources such as emergency vehicles and equipment to successfully care for their communities. We are thankful to play a role in that for New York City.”

Demers-Braun-Crestline pulled from in-stock inventory at their facilities, and their dealer partner locations, to source the nineteen new ambulances. This allowed DBC to offer FDNY a wide selection of models, available for immediate delivery. The first batch of vehicles was delivered on May 19, 2020; the second caravan arrived on May 28, 2020. Included in the delivery were six Demers’ ambulances, seven Braun models, and six Crestline units. All ambulances feature cot restraint systems to meet the city’s specifications, as well as the iconic FDNY graphics package.

The New York City Fire Department made an announcement on Facebook regarding the new ambulances. “The ambulances have arrived in New York City, and will be deployed into service as EMTs and paramedics continue to respond to New Yorkers in need. The COVID-19 pandemic has been the busiest period in the history of EMS, with call volume increasing by 50% daily at the height of the pandemic.”

Demers Ambulances, Braun Ambulances, and Crestline Coach announces month-long celebration of EMS Week (USA) and Paramedics Services Week (Canada) to pay tribute to front line heroes.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – BELOEIL, QUEBEC: Demers-Braun-Crestline (DBC) ambulance manufacturers kicked off celebrations early for the upcoming EMS Week (USA) and Paramedic Services Week (Canada) by announcing they will honor EMS professionals throughout the entire month of May. The United States observes EMS Week from May 17-23, 2020, while Canada observes Paramedic Services Week from May 24-30, 2020. It is tradition for communities to pay tribute to EMS practitioners and professionals who selflessly dedicate their professional lives to responding to emergency calls and saving lives. Given the COVID-19 pandemic, this year is especially critical to recognize EMS and their tireless commitment and contribution to keeping our communities safe, while combatting the relentless coronavirus. In honor of our everyday heroes, DBC will highlight EMS organizations across North America, sharing stories of EMS professionals going beyond during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As an essential business that directly serves our front line heroes, we have been so impressed by the way EMS professionals are stepping up during this health crisis,” says Chad Brown, Vice President of USA Sales for Demers-Braun-Crestline. “Not only are they delivering lifesaving care at an increased pace, they are adapting on the job as new research is published and updated protocols are put in place.”

“We recognized EMS professionals are on the front lines of an unprecedented response, and even with all of this, they continue to serve our communities as a beacon of hope and inspiration,” shares Scott Sawatsky, Vice President of Canada Sales for Demers-Crestline. “Across North America, we have seen virtual station tours, storybook readings, drive-by salutes for healthcare workers, and more. The emotional toll of their job is unimaginable, yet they continue to answer the call. It is inspiring. We want all EMS professionals to know we see what they’re doing, and we are truly thankful.”

Throughout the month of May, DBC will honor EMS communities across North America by leveraging their social media platforms to shine the spotlight brightly on EMS professionals. DBC brands are encouraging EMS organizations to submit stories and pictures by tagging the brands on Facebook: @demersambulances, @braunambulances, or @crestlinecoachltd, or by directly submitting stories and pictures through email info@demers-ambulances.comsocial@braunambulances.cominfo@crestlinecoach.com.

Winners will be announced May 8, 15, 22, and 29. The ‘Crew Meal’ will be provided as a $100 prepaid credit card due to respect public safety measures at EMS stations. During this time, we ask that you please consult with your representative before planning any trips to our facilities.

Virtual Options Are Available: Interactions can and will be conducted via video. We are already accommodating customer requests for video-based inspections. We understand that many of our customers are under travel bans required by their own governments/departments, and we will fully support the rescheduling of plant visits to a later date, if you do not wish to handle them virtually.

Preventative Measures & Self-Assessment: All DBC employees, dealers, and customers, should self-assess their health before coming into our facilities. If you have concerning health symptoms, please reschedule your visit for a later time. Additionally, all DBC special events (such as FDIC and DBC U.S. Service Training programs) have been postponed, with more event postponements likely to be announced in the coming days.

Supply Chain Impact: We are closely monitoring our supply chain for potential disruptions to material flow required for our vehicle manufacturing. Impacts are currently unknown but a significant effort to prevent disruption is already underway. Upcoming impacts may change timelines and other important dates, we will communicate those directly to anyone impacted. We will also make those changes publicly available on this page and our social media.

THANK YOU

We are living through unprecedented times. As you report to work and are asked to go above and beyond your call to serve the greater good, we are here to support you.  Now more than ever, “Thank You” seems inadequate to express our gratitude for the first response and healthcare community. You are the true heroes here.
